Part of Joe Biden’s COVID-19 strategy will require people traveling to the United States to test negative prior to their departure.
Biden will issue an executive order requiring mask-wearing on certain public modes of transportation and at ports of entry.
“For international air travel, Executive Order ‘Promoting COVID-19 Safely in Domestic and International Travel’ will require a recent negative COVID-19 test result prior to departure and quarantine on arrival, consistent with CDC guidelines,” the document says.
His strategy, which can be found here, also includes “restoring trust with the American people;” mounting a safe, effective and comprehensive vaccination campaign; mitigate spread through expanding masking, testing, data, treatments, healthcare workforce and clear public health standards; immediately expand emergency relief and exercise the Defense Production Act; safely reopen schools, businesses and travel while protecting workers; protecting those most at risk and advance equity, including across racial, ethnic and rural/urban lines; and restoring U.S. leadership globally and build better preparedness for future threats.
