Joe Biden’s selection to lead the Health & Human Services will take one of the “most radical abortion records in public service” with him, according to the Family Research Council.
Xavier Becerra, who currently serves as the California Attorney General, put 24 years in Congress.
According to FRC, Becerra argued that pro-life offices should be forced to advertise for abortion. He refused to comply when the federal government cracked down on California’s forcing every health plan to cover abortion.
He voted against FRC’s position 127 times.
“If he’s confirmed, Biden will be declaring war on pro-lifers, nuns, the unborn, medical professionals, taxpayers and anyone who believes in the First Amendment,” wrote Tony Perkins of the FRC.
While in Congress, Becerra voted against the Conscience Protection Act of 2016. He voted against the Women’s Public Health and Safety Act. Against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
And that is only the beginning.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton has already said publicly he would not vote to confirm Becerra. Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life organization, urged other GOP senators to do the same.
“Xavier Becerra spent his career attacking pro-life Americans and tried to force crisis pregnancy centers to advertise abortions,” Cotton tweeted. “He’s been a disaster in California and he is unqualified to lead HHS. I’ll be voting no, and Becerra should be rejected by the Senate.”
Alliance Defending Freedom chimed in as well, saying they had to go to the Supreme Court to keep Becerra from forcing the pregnancy centers to advertise to kill their babies.
“He is an extremist who has no regard for conscience or protecting life,” said ADF’s Kristen Waggoner. “There’s nothing moderate about this pick. Nothing.”
