Rep. Dan Bishop (NC-08) and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) today reintroduced the Stop CRT Act and the Combatting Racist Training in the Military Act. Rep. Bishop first introduced these bills in 2021. Together, they will cut off all federal dollars from being used to promote Critical Race Theory (CRT) and are the most comprehensive anti-CRT bills introduced to date.

The Stop CRT Act will fully defund efforts to promote CRT and codifies the Trump Administration’s Executive Order to eliminate this toxic ideology from the federal government entirely. The Combatting Racist Training in the Military Act will eradicate CRT concepts from the Armed Forces, including all military academies.  The bills have dozens of Republican co-sponsors in the House.

“Critical race theory (CRT) is a poisonous ideology that seeks to divide Americans based on their skin color, and it must be ripped out, root and branch, from our institutions. CRT should have no place in American life and certainly shouldn’t be promoted using American tax dollars. The Biden administration and radical Left’s relentless promotion of these racist, anti-American ideologies is toxic to our country and culture. These bills are one crucial part of our fight against the insidious effort from the Left to fundamentally transform society based on their designs.” – Representative Dan Bishop

“Radical activism should have no place in our military’s training. American soldiers should learn how to kill our enemies, not anti-American ideology. This legislation will prevent Department of Defense bureaucrats from teaching woke ideology.” – Senator Tom Cotton

“The Center for Renewing America is grateful for Members who realize how close we are to losing our country and are doing what they can to stop the racist rot permeating our military and our communities and families under the guise of “wokeness.” It intends to tear down institutions that are the bedrock of American society through division and hate. Ending the woke praxis of Critical Race Theory and Critical Gender Theory in the United States, which is intentionally cultivated under a myriad of seemingly innocuous terms and concepts, is one step closer to stopping the radical culture revolution being advanced by the anti-American left.” – Wade Miller, Executive Director of Citizens for Renewing America

“The promotion of Critical Race Theory within our nation’s Armed Forces and federal agencies is unacceptable. These divisive initiatives erode the experience of military service that unites a diverse population of Americans through service and community. Critical Race Theory has no place in the military or federal agencies and we applaud Congressman Bishop for taking a stand and preserving our nation’s guiding principles.” – Ryan Walker, Vice President of Government Relations, Heritage Action

“Leftists are actively seeking to expand the use of critical race theory (CRT) and other radical, divisive ideologies into every aspect of American life. From public schools, to employee training, to our nation’s military, proponents of CRT will stop at nothing to advance activist academics that further divide Americans along the lines of identity. We applaud Rep. Bishop for pushing back against the spread of CRT beyond the ivory tower where it should remain.” Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President
