Last month we told you about Heartland AEA reportedly distributing Black Lives Matter Week of Action at School curriculum.
Heartland AEA denied the claim, but an email obtained by The Iowa Standard certainly seems to indicate otherwise. We sent an email to the author of that email, a man called Alex Glade. He has not responded to The Iowa Standard.
We’re highlighting one of those lessons distributed…
This particular lesson from D.C. Area Educators For Social Justice is called “Pre-Schoolers Learn to be Allies.”
This lesson was done by three and four-year-old pre-school students.
The teacher read the book “One” by Katherine Otoshi and discussed with the kids what it means to be a bystander and ally as well as addressing “restorative justice” in the story.
Here is the book:
It is an “early childhood anti-bias” story about the color blue being made fun of by red. And none of the other colors stood up for blue, so red grew and made fun of all the other colors. Then No. 1 came in and taught the colors to stand up for themselves.
