Tucson Sector Border Patrol Agents caught a Mexican national who had previously been deported and has a violent criminal history on Thursday morning. Juan Maldonado-Martinez was convicted in Oregon for rape in the third degree in 2003 and forgery in the first degree in 2004.
Maldonado will remain in federal custody as he awaits felony immigration prosecution. All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
