An objection to the Iowa Utilities Board regarding the CO2 pipeline project:
“I write today to oppose the CO2 pipeline project that is intending to cross through our century farm. If the IUB Mission Statement is to be upheld, then a privately owned CO2 pipeline does not fit into being ‘a safe utility service available toa ll Iowans.’ Nor, was the Dakota Access pipeline.
“Shame on us for not fighting harder to oppose the Dakota Access pipeline that came through in 2016. Fear of Emanate Domain prompted so many of us to give in to the compensation that was changing each time a representative came. Even after six years, the soil has not healed and does not produce a fair crop. Their compensation is not worth the unsettling of the soil layers nor the loss of income we have incurred.
“Just as Dakota Access was and is not a public utility and does not benefit Iowa, neither does the proposed carbon pipeline. I strongly suggest that you represent Iowa, Iowa farmers and the land rather than private corporations in this matter. Vote no to allowing this carbon monoxide to pass through pipelines in the state of Iowa.”

I believe its carbon dioxide..the stuff that makes plants grow. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Yes and no. To pipe CO2, it has to be liquefied and pumped under pressure.
Just as a CO2 fire extinguisher puts out a fire by displacing the oxygen that a fire needs, a CO2 leak from a pipeline running near you can kill you by asphyxiation because CO2 is heavier than oxygen. Especially if it happens at night and you’re sound asleep.
