A COVID-19 outbreak among a fully vaccinated crew led to an early end to the AIDAnova, a cruise with 2,844 passengers and 1,353 crew onboard that had been docked in Lisbon. Fifty-two cases of COVID were detected among the fully vaccinated crew.
On Thursday, the CDC advised people to avoid traveling on cruise ships regardless of vaccination status.
Last week, more than 3,000 passengers aboard a cruise ship were reportedly blocked for disembarking by Carnival Cruise Line after health officials in Jalisco (Mexico) requested negative tests for all travelers who wanted to leave the liner.
The cruise ship was carrying 69 people who had COVID-19. Earlier in the week, the country’s Health and Tourism ministries agreed to allow vacationers off the ship if they were non-infected.
