Theresa Greenfield is refusing to support U.S. Senator Joni Ernst’s Sarah’s Law, named after Iowan Sarah Root who was killed by an illegal immigrant.
After Washington Democrats blocked the bill this week, Joni asked Greenfield to join her in calling for immediate bipartisan action on Sarah’s Law. This effort would ensure that those who are charged with a violent crime and here illegally remain detained.
As KCCI reports, “Ernst released a statement Friday asking Democratic Iowa Senate Nominee Theresa Greenfield to stand with her on Sarah’s Law. Greenfield has not made a statement in response.”
“It is unconscionable that Theresa Greenfield can’t even say if she would support this common-sense immigration bill to keep violent criminals off the streets. Once again Greenfield has proven to be an out of touch liberal who turns her back on Iowa families,” said Team Joni spokesperson Brendan Conley.
Sarah Root from Council Bluffs had graduated from college the day she was killed by a man here illegally. After being charged, her killer was let out of jail after posting bond and fled. He never faced justice. Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley are joined by 24 fellow senators in support of Sarah’s Law.
