United States Senator Dianne Feinstein is urging President Donald Trump to support a request for $5 billion in emergency funds from the International Monetary Fund…for Iran.
“The Coronavirus has hit Iran hard, with the potential for even greater spread in the region. In the interest of international security, President Trump should support Iran’s request to the IMF for emergency funds to contain the virus,” Feinstein tweeted.
Congressman Steve Scalise called Feinstein’s request “unbelievable.”
“Let’s get this straight — as millions of Americans lose their jobs and businesses, Senate Democrats are blocking critical relief for them while pushing to give money to Iran — a state sponsor of terrorism,” he tweeted.
Heshmat Alavi, who covers Iran and the Middle East (especially what the mainstream media won’t) according to his Twitter profile, responded:
“Senator Feinstein, after your dining ordeal with Javad Zarif (foreign minister of Islamic Republican of Iran), one shouldn’t be surprised of your show of support for, not the Iranian people, but the brutal regime ruling Iran.”
