Maggie DeWitte, the executive director of Iowans For Life and spokesperson for the Coalition of Pro-Life Leaders, thanked pro-life Iowans for attending Monday’s Pro-Life Prayer Rally.

“I know coming to the Capitol is not always easy, the parking is terrible, and the politics that go on here are sometimes stomach-turning,” she said. “But it’s for that very reason that you are needed here the most. Your presence, your prayers and your advocacy are what it is all about.”

DeWitte said that if we can’t get the life issue right, we won’t get anything right.

“Stay the course, and stick with us,” she said. “It isn’t always easy, and we know that our path is narrow and filled with lots of obstacles along the way, but in the end, Christ has us covered, right?”

DeWitte acknowledged that, in the past, Iowa’s pro-life groups haven’t always been able to work together.

“Those days are long gone folks and we are stronger together than we ever were apart,” she said. “What has happened in the pro-life movement in the last few years in Iowa is nothing short of remarkable. Working for life is not for the faint of heart; it is gut-wrenching work that never ends. It’s a day in and day out fight for the most vulnerable in our society. But, speaking for myself, it has been energizing and invigorating to be working with a team of like-minded individuals with just as much passion and conviction for life as I have.”
