A new national phone and online survey released by Rasmussen Reports reveals 58 percent of likely U.S. voters at least somewhat agree the media is “truly the enemy of the people.” Thirty-four percent of likely voters strongly agree. Thirty-six percent do not agree, including 23 percent who strongly disagree.
In all, 83 percent of voters believe “fake news” is a serious problem in the media. Fifty-five percent said it is a very serious problem. Just 14 percent do not think it is a serious problem.
Thirty-seven percent of voters said they trust the political news they get, 43 percent said they do not trust political news.
Seventy-six percent of Republicans agree that the media is “truly the enemy of the people.” Sixty-one percent of unaffiliated voters at least somewhat agree, but just 37 percent of Democrats share the opinion.
Fifty-six percent of Democrats trust the political news they are getting, but that is true for just 25 percent of both Republican and unaffiliated voters.
