***Rumors are swirling Iowa about polling location closures and changes. We’ve contacted the county auditors in Iowa to find out what is actually happening in their county.***
Dickinson County auditor Lori Pedersen said her county will have five polling places open on Tuesday and meet the 65 percent requirement.
Voters have known for “quite a while” when it comes to polling place changes, however these will be the same location as the last city school election.
“It has been well advertised,” Pedersen said.
Those changes were necessary due to needing better areas for social distancing, a decline in poll workers due to the pandemic and “convenience for all.”
There are fewer changes in Madison County where auditor Shelley Kaster said seven polling locations will be open. There were eight in 2016. One location used in 2016 was too small for proper social distancing.
