***Rumors are swirling Iowa about polling location closures and changes. We’ve contacted the county auditors in Iowa to find out what is actually happening in their county.***
Dubuque County will have 12 fewer voting places open on Tuesday than it typically does. There will be 23 locations operating, well under the typical number of 35.
Denise Dolan, the county auditor, said that voters were sent a postcard to notify them of changes to their polling place since Tuesday, Oct. 27.
While the county has the necessary number of poll workers, not all of the usual polling sites were eager to host an election this year.
“We also had some experienced election officials who didn’t want to work for this election,” Dolan said. “Due to the size of this election, we didn’t want to have a polling site without some experienced workers.”
