Entrepreneur Justin Wasson publicly announced on Facebook Wednesday that he is running for the Republican nomination for State Senator in the newly redrawn Iowa Senate District 42. The district covers communities in Linn and Benton Counties, including but not limited to Central City, Bertram, Vinton, Ely, Fairfax, Belle Plaine, Mount Vernon and Van Horne.

Wasson, a married father of three, is the founder and owner of Affordable Pressure Washing in Cedar Rapids and is the current Chair of the Linn County GOP.

“I know how to clean up a mess and trust me, there are plenty of messes in Des Moines that need to be cleaned up,” said Wasson. “My fellow citizens who call rural Linn and Benton counties home need an advocate in Des Moines that will work to support our struggling businesses and farmers, push back against the teaching of far-left ideologies in public schools and fight for the much-needed tax reforms and financial relief our senior citizens deserve.”

Wasson is also a long-time community volunteer, having spent countless hours donating his time to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement and Feed Iowa First among many other organizations.

Wasson says while he is proud to be the only conservative Republican candidate who has entered the District 42 race, he is excited to also have the support of a broad coalition that includes Democrats, independents and first-time voters.

Republican voters will head to the polls to cast their ballots for Wasson on June 7th.
