Days after the Supreme Court’s decision was handed down in the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, Dordt dean of chapel Aaron Baart sounded off on Twitter.
The Masterpiece Cakeshop case involved owner Jack Phillips, who refused to make a cake to celebrate a same-sex marriage because it went against his Christian faith.
Phillips has since been a target for other secular celebrations, like celebrating a gender transition with a cake.
The United States Supreme Court sided with Phillips, and religious liberty.
Baart, though, seemingly belittled the Christian, biblical, principled stand that Phillips took.
“I consider myself a very, very serious follower of Jesus, so if a gay couple asked me to bake them a cake, I’d bake them two.”
Interesting position, seeing as Dordt allegedly holds the belief that same-sex attraction is OK, but same-sex behavior (including marriage) is wrong and against the Bible.
