In one of their earliest votes, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted in support of Rep. Liz Cheney retaining her leadership position — even after her vote to impeach President Donald J. Trump and subsequent Jan. 6 comments.
According to Politico, Cheney refused to apologize for her impeachment vote and received a “full-throated defense” from Leader Kevin McCarthy.
Politico also reported 61 Republicans voted for the resolution calling on Cheney to step down. Hinson, however, said she was “glad” Cheney received a vote of confidence.
Miller-Meeks’ office confirmed she voted in favor of Cheney as well.
Feenstra’s office refused to say whether he voted in support of Cheney.
We are led to believe that means Feenstra voted for Cheney to keep her leadership position but did not want to publicly disclose his vote.
Feenstra voted for Cheney. He didn’t have McCarthy’s permission to do otherwise.
