Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger has started a new PAC in an effort to target Republicans who embrace President Donald J. Trump.
Kinzinger said that the GOP has “lost its way” in a video on the Country First PAC. It is intended to support candidates who oppose President Trump’s influence over the GOP.
Kinzinger has disappointed many times before.
The Illinois Republican was one of the GOP lawmakers who called for a vote with Democrats to pass DACA amnesty legislation back when Paul Ryan was Speaker of the House.
The letter said it was written in support of passing a permanent legislative solution for DACA recipients, who it said are contributing members of our communities and our economy.
“They are American in every way except their immigration status,” the letter said.
Kinzinger is included a member of the Republican Main Street Partnership PAC, which drew the ire of Iowa conservatives when it endorsed Randy Feenstra in the Fourth Congressional District race. Main Street PAC has called for red flag gun laws.
Kinzinger donated $2,000 to Feenstra’s congressional race during the primary.
Kinzinger was one of the House Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump.
The Iowa Standard reached out to Congressman Randy Feenstra’s office for comment about Kinzinger’s new PAC, but has not received a response.
