Congressman Keith Self has sent a warning shot cautioning Great Britain’s government against any attempt to extradite American citizens for exercising their Constitutional right to free speech.

During an interview, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, claimed that he would “throw the full force of the law at people. And whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield online, we will come after you.” In addition, Elon Musk has been engaged in banter with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for targeting free speech by tweeting out #TwoTierKeir.

In his letter to Karen Pierce, British Ambassador to the United States, Congressman Self requested clarification about media reports quoting government officials making threats against U.S. citizens.

“I called on Ambassador Pierce to immediately repudiate reports that the British Government is seeking extradition of American citizens for their protected speech,” Congressman Keith Self said. “Clearly, harassing Americans will do absolutely nothing to resolve Great Britain’s internal issues, and pursuing this path will likely be detrimental to the U.S.-U.K. alliance.”

While Congressman Self requested a response from Ambassador Pierce, none has been extended, and the deadline for that response has come and gone.
