Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) joined her colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden regarding federal agency closures.

“Congress has appropriated trillions of dollars since the pandemic effectively began in March 2020. Now, almost two years later, the numerous reports of agencies that handle some of our constituents’ requests operating at subpar level is indeed troubling,”wrote the lawmakers“Some of the most profound examples, though certainly not all of them, include Personnel Records for our Veterans, the Social Security Administration for those with disabilities or those required to register prior to retirement, the Internal Revenue Service’s processing of tax returns, the United States Postal Service’s on time delivery, and the Small Business Administration’s slow response to businesses attempting to access COVID-related programs. Make no mistake, these are just a few of the agencies we deal with on a day-to-day basis.”

“My team continues to hear from Iowans about subpar service from federal agencies. From veterans facing delays in receiving benefits to families still waiting on tax returns from last year to be processed, and seniors relying on delayed prescriptions by mail—it’s unacceptable. The rest of the country is back at work, yet these offices remain either closed or have limited staff. Federal offices should return to fully staffed, in person operations to best serve the American people,” added Congresswoman Hinson.

  1. Since government has never been efficient while fully staffed and seeing how life continues to operate without 100% full staffing, the logical step would be to cut the personnel budget by 10% immediately. Then order the remaining staff to return to work immediately. For every one that doesn’t return to work, go ahead and cut them as well.

The House has power of the purse, learn to use it. The dems showed us how 155 years ago when they shut down the soldiers from roaming the range and protecting the freed slaves from discrimination and persecution with the Posse Commitas Act.
