On Monday, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson joined Mornings with Maria to discuss the Biden Administration’s failure to secure the Southern Border and the need to rein in government spending to combat inflation.

On fentanyl coming across the border: “It is frankly, Maria, out-of-sight out-of-mind for this Administration. President Biden’s Administration continues to break records of all the wrong kinds. This is a humanitarian crisis that they continue to turn a blind eye to — it is the migrants that are dying on the way to this country, the cartels that continue to profit off of that illicit fentanyl and meth that’s making its way into our backyards. I talk to law enforcement all the time in Iowa, those drugs are not only making their way across the border in Arizona but they are in our backyards in Iowa as well.”

On Vice President Harris’s claim that the border is secure: “Our Vice President is the ‘Border Czar.’ She’s said the border is secure, I think she should go down to the border, see this in person, she would actually experience what they communities are experiencing. She would see we need real solutions, not just continuing to pass the buck like the Biden Administration has done.”

On inflation: “One in six Americans are now behind on their utility bills. Iowans and Americans simply cannot afford President Biden’s and Nancy Pelosi’s agenda for this country and that’s why we are going to take their checkbook away come November. I think DC needs to govern a lot more like Iowa governs, which is living within its means, and that’s what every American wants to see. They’re not celebrating right now as they see record high inflation, but what a split screen to see President Biden and Democrats on the White House lawn celebrating on the day we hit 8.3% inflation. That’s the groceries, the gas, the baby formula, if you can even find it on the shelves, that our constituents are struggling to get every single day, but they’re off celebrating. How tone deaf is that?”
