Representative Ashley Hinson (IA-01) held three town halls in Benton, Fayette, and Delaware Counties as she continues to follow through on her commitment to being transparent and accessible to her constituents. Questions were not pre-screened.

“I had an incredible day holding town halls in Benton, Fayette, and Delaware Counties to hear from Iowans.

“In Benton, we talked about the need for a targeted infrastructure package, my recent legislation to expand access to maternal health care for expecting moms in rural areas, and the Democrats’ attempt to federalize our elections through H.R. 1. It was also great to have two high school classes attend so that they could experience how our democracy functions and hear about my work on their behalf.

“In Fayette, I answered questions about big tech censorship, expanding rural broadband, and stopping government waste of taxpayer dollars.

“In Delaware, we talked about why critical race theory should not be a part of school curriculums, challenges facing the cattle industry, securing our border, child care access, and how we should turn to biofuels to address fuel supply challenges.

“I received invaluable feedback and input from everyone who came out and shared their experiences, ideas, and opinions. I’m looking forward to telling these stories at the policymaking tables in DC to continue ensuring that Iowans’ voices are heard.

“We might not agree on every issue—but that’s how it should be. That is how our democracy functions and how we as elected leaders are held accountable.

“My biggest takeaway from today is that Iowans are sick of the chaos and dysfunction in DC, and expect me to continue pushing back against harmful policies pushed by President Biden and Speaker Pelosi.

“They want Congress to cut out all of the nonsense and focus on getting our economy back on track, curbing wasteful spending, keeping prices down, and finalizing a real infrastructure package. I’ll continue working on policies that respect taxpayers, prioritize the needs of rural America, and ensure the safety of all Iowans.”  –Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
