Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement after voting against a continuing resolution that would allow recent Afghan evacuees to get REAL IDs without proper vetting.

“I would have supported a clean continuing resolution, that kept the government funded at FY21 levels and did not include new policy changes. Unfortunately, the legislation before the House today included a concerning new policy that would waive requirements for Afghan evacuees to obtain REAL IDs, allowing them to fly domestically or internationally, without documentation that American citizens are required to provide. This raises serious national security concerns, and this policy should not have been included in last-minute government funding legislation.” – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
