Iowa Federation of Republican Women Convene in Des Moines Oct. 8-9

Members of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women from across the state will gather in Des Moines for their biennial convention to elect new officers and support Republican leaders under the banner of “Soaring to New Heights” on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9. Immediately following the convention,
Republican Women will head to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the Trump Rally beginning at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 2 p.m.

The event kicks off on Friday, Oct. 8, at the Renaissance Savery Hotel with an Executive Council meeting followed by a reception featuring U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and honoring the nominated slate of new officers for 2022-2023. The convention continues on Saturday, Oct. 9, with a board meeting, election of officers and a packed slate of GOP dignitaries addressing the group including: Governor Kim Reynolds, U.S. Congresswomen Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Secretary of State Paul Pate, Iowa Speaker of the House Pat Grassley, Republican Party of Iowa Chair Jeff Kaufmann, former Iowa Speaker of the House and current RPI Co-Chair Linda Upmeyer. A panel of young Republican leaders rounds out the day as they focus on the topic “We Didn’t Drink the Kool-Aid: Why Young and College Republicans Reject the Liberal Lies.” All are IowaFRW members and associate members.

IowaFRW President Barbara Hames-Bryant of Cedar Rapids said in a statement today, “Iowa in general, and Governor Reynolds in particular, have done an excellent job leading the state through tough times. The state treasury is sound, businesses are back to
work, and kids are in school.”

In stark contrast, Hames-Bryant added, “The Biden administration has proven ineffective in just about every area of governance: Afghanistan withdrawal disaster, rising inflation, unchecked immigration at the southern border, and vacillating pandemic policies. It’s time to support and elect Republican candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate that can solve problems and get us back to a better America. The members of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women will be enthusiastically offering their help toward this goal in 2022.”

Hames-Bryant encouraged all members to attend the IowaFRW convention and then drive across town to gather with thousands of fellow conservatives at the Trump Rally. “Come for the convention, stay for the rally,” Hames-Bryant urged. “Together we will all soar to new heights.”
