Iowa pastor’s post of the Lord’s Prayer is tagged with ‘false information’ warning by Facebook

In the summer of 2020, a Facebook spokesperson denied that sharing the Lord’s Prayer is against Facebook’s policies.

The claim was published on July 5.

That same claim circulated the social media website for some time.

But a Facebook spokesperson denied it was true.

“Our Community Standards are in place to keep people safe and to ensure they feel empowered to express themselves freely on Facebook and outline what is and is not allowed on Facebook. Posting the Lord’s Prayer does not violate our policies,” the spokesperson told AFP in an email on July 23, 2020.

Facebook’s community standards do not reference the Lord’s Prayer. They also do not detail any restrictions on religious expression.

But just yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 12, an Iowa pastor posted the text of the Lord’s Prayer. And here is what was tagged with it:
