In late October, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Biden Administration was in talks to offer illegal immigrant families separated during the Trump Administration $450,000 per person.
This news was not well received by the American people. Last Wednesday, President Biden called the report “garbage” and said, “that’s not going to happen.”
Just three days later, Biden flip-flopped completely. On Saturday, he confirmed he supports such payments to illegal immigrant families although he is unclear about the specific number:
“If, in fact, because of the outrageous behavior of the last administration, you coming across the border, whether it was legal or illegal and you lost your child, you lost your child, he’s gone, you deserve some kind of compensation, no matter what the circumstance.”
The President isn’t the only one who is having trouble spinning this new policy. A Biden spokeswoman found herself lost trying to defend the indefensible from the Press Briefing Room last week.
Meanwhile, in the Senate, there has been silence from Democrats, the very same Democrats who voted this year to send stimulus checks to illegal immigrants. Do Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Michael Bennet support giving illegal immigrants nearly half a million dollars for breaking the law?
