Vice President Kamala Harris issued a statement on Thursday in response to the pro-Hamas riots that took place in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. Rioters took down U.S. flags, set at least one on fire, put up Palestinian flags and vandalized numerous statues and monuments.

Harris called them “despicable acts by unpatriotic protestors and dangerous hate-fueled rhetoric.”

“I condemn any individuals associating with the brutal terrorist organization Hamas, which has vowed to annihilate the State of Israel and kill Jews,” she said. “Pro-Hamas graffiti and rhetoric is abhorrent and we must not tolerate it in our nation.”

Harris also condemned burning the U.S. flag.
