Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement on the results of the Senate Democratic primary:

“Tonight, Theresa Greenfield showed Iowans what $10 million in outside spending and help from DC Democrats will get you: A desperate, dishonest win from a campaign run by coastal elitist liberals. After a year of dodging Iowans, D.C. Democrats poured millions of dollars into the state to influence the election and buy Greenfield the nomination. The reality is, even Democrats know Greenfield is untruthful and woefully unprepared to lead.

“Meanwhile, as Democrats have been locked in a contentious and divisive primary, tonight we saw the strong, grassroots support from Iowans rallying around Sen. Joni Ernst. Folks across the state know Joni prioritizes hearing directly from Iowans which is why she visits all 99 counties every year and even held 35 town halls just last year alone. With a strong record as a relentless fighter for Iowa — from the hostile roads of Iraq to the U.S. Senate — there’s no doubt Iowans will reelect Joni to another term so she can continue to Make Washington Squeal.”
