Republican State Rep. Dean Fisher is speaking out about an upcoming “Mental Health Mini-Session” at Waukee Elementary. The school is hosting a meeting about the importance of LGBTQ and gender-inclusive curriculum and classroom environments on March 30 at 8 a.m. inside the Waukee Elementary library.

“Further proof that many in our public schools think the school is for indoctrination, not education,” Fisher said. “I find it disturbing for several reasons.”

Fisher said he doesn’t believe it is appropriate for the school to administer “mental health mini-sessions,” especially if they’re not mental health professionals.

“It’s not appropriate to be using our public schools to push this type of sexual indoctrination and grooming,” he said. “It’s sick. And yes, it’s grooming type of behavior. And it’s not in some other state — it’s here in Iowa public schools.”
