U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) introduced the Traditional Screening Application (TSA) Act and the Traditional Passport Act (TPA) to restrict the Biden Administration from allowing individuals to select “X” as their gender or sex designation on travel documents, including passports and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck applications.

“The Biden Administration should be more focused on screening and reviewing travelers to protect the homeland, rather than pushing the radical left’s gender ideology,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “I was pleased to once again introduce these two important pieces of legislation to place combating global security threats and protecting our national security over the far left’s woke agenda.”

On April 11, 2022, the State Department began issuing passports with the “X” gender designation and the TSA PreCheck advanced security program began allowing applicants to apply for the program using the “X” gender designation. The TSA Act and TPA prohibit TSA from using the “X” gender designation in their TSA PreCheck advanced security program and prevent the U.S. State Department from issuing passports with the “X” gender designation.

Lesko was joined by Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), Jeff Duncan (R-SC-03), Bob Good (R-VA-05), Mary Miller (R-IL-15), and Ralph Norman (R-SC-05) in the introduction of the TSA Act. This legislation is also supported by Family Research Council.
