I submitted a plank at the 2022 Iowa Caucus suggesting Gov. Kim Reynolds to reactivate a citizens’ volunteer militia. It passed all the way to the state convention in which I was a delegate. Having only a minute to speak on a subject that takes an hour to adequately cover, it failed. Two years later, the need for a volunteer citizens militia is even more important than ever.

The first thing we need to wrap our minds around is that we live in a world at constant war between Good and Evil. Evil works 24/7 while Good always seems to be on vacation. Statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

The forces of Evil do not want to be exposed by the forces of Good, so they will lie and twist the truth about what is good and right. Evil wants good people to be afraid of opposing it, especially when it comes to questioning and exposing its child sacrifice system.

In the political world, good people are opposed by an enemy that does not play fair or by any rules, while the forces of good and right are bound by rules often set by the enemy. Do we have any red lines? At what point will a modern Thomas Jefferson write a modern Declaration of Independence to separate us from our long train of abuses and usurpations? We do not need a new Constitution. We need representatives that will abide by their oath to the Constitution that now exists.

Joe Biden is holding America’s door wide open to an evil infested world. Millions coming here are not coming for a better life or seeking asylum or to assimilate. This is an ideological invasion of terrorism, communism and Islam – all forms of evil. And then there is the drug cartels, human trafficking, child sex trade and the cults of transgenderism and climate change. These are not businessmen or entrepreneurs seeking a better life under moral ethics.

Allowing this to continue is not about making a better world or loving our fellow man. This is pure sugar-coated evil that’s design is to reduce our nation under absolute despotism. All these immoral ideologies are criminal and anti-American. Nothing but death, misery, and bondage follows them.

There’s a direct correlation between the Second Amendment and militia that has been lost in the effort by educators to indoctrinate younger generations. Marxist professors attempt to weaken the principles of defending liberty by making young people believe that everyone having guns is dangerous, and only the government is safe being armed. The implication is a militia is antiquated and no longer necessary. Why? Because a Marxist is deceived to believe that human nature can change for the better and that we are more enlightened and civilized with more education. An invasion, open borders proponents will argue, is that it cannot possibly happen here even though an invasion is unfolding right before our eyes!

Our founding fathers knew better. They knew human nature would never change and needed a safeguard, a means to protect citizens as a last resort from tyrants and despots – and from invasion.

In 1798, President John Adams, in a letter to the Massachusetts Militia wrote, “Our Constitution is made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

The second thing we must realize is the risk and consequences of turning against our founding fathers God that gave us self-evident truths and endowed us with certain inalienable rights.

In his first inaugural address in 1789, President George Washington said, “…the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained…”

The 1st Amendment was to keep a citizenry informed by free speech, but the 2nd Amendment was provided as a means of self-defense should free speech fail. Both were necessary guards to protect liberty. Free speech is our diplomatic voice of liberty, but a militia is the teeth of liberty should diplomacy fail.

Thirdly, we do not need the government’s permission to exercise rights granted by our Creator. The caveat, however, is that we govern ourselves by our Creator’s eternal rules of order to keep these certain inalienable rights. William Penn said, “Men must be governed by God, or they will be ruled by tyrants.”

The 2nd Amendment has four clauses separated by a comma (bracketed enumeration added): “[1] A well-regulated Militia, [2] being necessary to the security of a free State, [3] the rights of the people to keep and bear arms, [4] shall not be infringed.”

A well-regulated Militia

“I ask you, sir, who are the Militia? They consist now of the whole people…” ~ George Mason, drafter of the Virginia Bill of Rights

Patrick Henry, principal supporter of the Bill of Rights, set forth this resolve on March 23, 1775, at the Second Virginia Convention:

“Resolved, that a well-regulated militia, composed of gentlemen and yeomen, is the natural strength and only security of a free government; that such a militia in this colony would forever render it unnecessary for the mother-country to keep among us, for the purpose of our defense, any standing army of mercenary soldier, always subversive of the quiet, and dangerous to the liberties of the people, and would obviate the pretext of taxing us for their support. That the establishment of such is, at this time, peculiarly necessary, by the state of our laws, for the protection and defense of the country, some of which are already expired, and others will shortly be so: and that the known remissness of government in calling us together in legislative capacity, renders it too insecure, in this time of danger and distress, to rely that opportunity will be given of renewing them, in general assembly, or making any provision to secure our inestimable rights and liberties, from those further violations with which they are threatened. Resolved, therefore, that this colony be immediately put into a state of defense, and that be a committee to prepare a plan for embodying, arming, and disciplining such a number of men, as may be sufficient for that purpose.”

Being necessary to the security of a free State

Justice Joseph Story’s 1833 commentary on the Constitution of the United States:

“…the natural defense of a free country against sudden foreign invasions, domestic insurrections, and domestic usurpations of power by rulers…The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.”

The rights of the people to keep and bear arms

“…all citizens capable of bearing arms constitute the reserved military force or reserve militia…the States cannot, even laying the constitutional provision in question out of view, prohibit the people from keeping and bearing arms…” ~ Presser v. Illinois 1886

“The right of the people to keep and bear…arms shall not be infringed. A well-regulated [trained, equipped, disciplined] militia, composed of the people trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country…” ~ James Madison, 1 Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789)

Shall not be infringed

The 2nd Amendment is our sole gun control law. All attempts to control citizens from exercising this right with frivolous gun control regulation is without constitutional merit; therefore, the implication of shall not be infringed. How we handle intentional or accidental discharge of weapons, or criminal misconduct, is up for debate on what penalty should be imposed, but the firearm is never at fault any more than an automobile is at fault for running over and killing people in a crowd. It is good to remember that our Constitution restrains the government and that lawful citizens have all the power.

The constitutional reasons for a militia…

According to Article 1§8, there are three constitutional purposes a militia serves in a free republic: 1.) to enforce the constitutional laws of the Union, 2.) suppress insurrections, and 3.) repel invasions. All three conditions exist today and are being abused by illegal aliens and lawless people.

Enforce the laws (Constitution) of the Union

We are endowed with inalienable rights granted by the Creator of the universe; therefore, the Constitution is a target of every demon from hell. The beneficiaries of that document are the enemies of those wanting to subvert its principles and destroy them. The destruction of the Constitution will happen if We the People ever deny the God that gave it to us as a gift. Our strength comes from God that gave us life and liberty. Enforcement is to guard. We must guard the Constitution with the same temerity like ancient Israel guarded the Torah.

Our Constitution is an insult to godless communists, militant reprobates and terrorists – unless it can be used to the advantage of evil. It is evidently clear we have elected people that do not take their oath to God and the Constitution very seriously. This is partly the fault of ignorance and the fault of intentional. We have already been intellectually infiltrated and brainwashed through educational indoctrination. There are no rights except God-given human rights granted to all lawful citizens. Rights created by identity such as skin color or genders other than male or female are unconstitutional.

Suppress insurrections

During Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, homegrown terrorist groups BLM and Antifa burned down Washington DC, rioted and burned down dozens of US cities, courthouses and 93 police vehicles across the country. Mainstream media reported this insurrection as mostly peaceful. Then a weaponized FBI infiltrated MAGA supporters on January 6, 2021, incites a riot and takes political prisoners. This was then joined by a biased media reporting three hours of a mostly peaceful gathering for certification of a rigged election as an insurrection.

The only example of a real insurrection of recent is the one instigated by Biden’s BLM and Obama’s Antifa and a few weaponized federal agencies.

The role of a constitutional militia would be to suppress disorder and lawlessness such as instigated and led by anti-American factions that are hostile to constitutional and biblical values in their war against God.

It could be argued a few insurrectionists would likely be killed during such enforcement, but how many subsequent insurrections and invasions would follow knowing there would be a price to be paid? That is the purpose of a constitutional militia: to suppress and limit collateral damage from lawless actions. It would happen once and be over – not happen for weeks and weeks holding law abiding citizens hostage. An illegal evil person would reason I could die if I riot and stand down. As it is, there’s no reason to worry about self-preservation for unlawful actions of riot and destroying cities. There are currently no consequences or fear connected to Biden-led riots or invasion.

Repel invasions

There are an estimated 11 million or more illegal aliens that have entered the United States from 170 nations in Biden’s open borders invasion. These numbers are refuted by a weaponized media covering it up and a president who is enabling and leading an invasion against the country he swore an oath to protect.

The invasion is aided by the Mexican cartel. Mexico is used as a base and land bridge to enable people from all other nations to illegally enter. They facilitate human trafficking and child sex trade. They are flooding our streets with fentanyl and illegal drugs. Sicario are people that have no fear of police or judges. Then we have Venezuela emptying its prisons of murderers and violent criminals. Hamas and other Islamic terrorists and communist Chinese, all fighting age males, are pouring in.

Every imaginable ideological human disease has infected our country.

This is a dire situation. With these numbers, it is entirely possible to organize and deploy a battalion of 500 combatants to every county of 3,122 American counties in all 50 states. That is assuming only 1.5 million or a fraction of all illegals have evil and nefarious intent in store for this country. This number easily fits into the “got-aways” that we have no idea who they are or where they’re at. Just imagine an organized  simultaneously executed Hamas style attack nationwide in each of those 3,122 American counties.

And if organized, on a day and hour, this invasion force could easily disperse hitting hundreds of soft targets. It could paralyze and lock down this country in 72 hours, not to mention an insurmountable death toll. Don’t think it cannot happen. The invasion force is already here, and they do not share biblical values! And we are not an Israeli Defense Force ready for such an attack with a quick response time.

All the logistics necessary to move a foreign invading army are available: food, shelter, medicine, transportation and weapons. This suggestion is a worst case scenario short of an apocalyptic nuclear attack. Such an attack by invasion would wipe away our history and destroy the American Dream. Liberty and its enduring principles will become only an afterthought. Life will be reduced to absolute despotism and bondage – just one rung up from the animal kingdom.

It should be clear that we will not be able to reason with the political defenders of transgenderism, climate change, Islam, communism, and crime. It should be clear our representatives will not protect our children or private property from an immoral invasion or evil. They are serving as a fifth column to protect evil. Democrats and establishment RINOs are all part of it. Diplomacy has failed.

What are we going to do, talk until we talk ourselves into a boxcar to Auschwitz? If there was ever a time to organize a citizens’ volunteer militia, it is now.

I would suggest instead of paying federal income taxes this April 15, using the money to finance your own citizens’ defense in your county and community. Why send money to a lawless federal government and representatives that no longer abide by its oath of office to defend Americans? Why donate money to a political party that will not fix bad laws that protect evil? It will be up to God-fearing Iowans to defend ourselves, and a citizens’ militia is the biblical and constitutional way to defend our state from rampant evil.

If there was ever a time to seek first the kingdom of God and the eternal King who runs it, now might be that time.

  1. Rick –

I’m glad to hear from the guy who wrote that plank last time. I also spoke in favor of it then. I said it would be like the Boy Scouts .

I love talking about article vi of the Iowa constitution . In my experience you just say the word militia , and all the right people get really scared .

    God bless you too

  2. The U.S. Constitution was founded on the basic principle that government needs to be reined in and is to serve the will of the people, and the people are given the right to bear arms. So what exactly does “well-regulated militia” mean? Regulated by who?

  3. In the Iowa Constitution , the militia is well-regulated by Article VI .

If Iowa men , liable to perform military service in the militia, actually had the opportunity to elect officers and meet with the other militia men in their county , twice a year perhaps to train a little bit. Once in the spring , once in the fall. The militia would be very well-regulated indeed. If owning a firearm, meant you had to register with the militia , and make contact with the commissioned militia officer in your county , and he had “red flag and gun control authority” over his unit that elected him.

I think that would be a very good thing for Iowa.

  4. To accomplish the intent of this letter is for the governor to reactivate the Iowa State Guard which was deactivated in 1947. The Legislature would need to provide any necessary funding. This should be a Iowa GOP Party plank!

  5. I agree , completely.

But I did resign from the CD2 platform committee recently.

Maybe you have more patience for working with RPI than I do , and you can get it done.
