Linn County Public Health holding six vaccine clinics in Cedar Rapids schools in September, offering $50 to anyone who gets it

Linn County Public Health will hold vaccine clinics in not one, not two, not three, not four, not five but six — SIX schools in September. The clinics are open to anyone 12 and older. Parental consent will be required for those under 18.

Anyone who receives the vaccine will receive a $50 Walmart gift card from Linn County Public Health.

Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 3-5 p.m. at Wilson Middle School

Thursday, Sept. 9 from 3-5 p.m. at Metro High School

Monday, Sept. 13 from 3-5 p.m. at Franklin Middle School

Wednesday, Sept. 15 from 3-5 p.m. at Harding Middle School

Friday, Sept. 17 from 3-5 p.m. at McKinley Middle School

Monday, Sept. 20 from 3-5 p.m. at Taft Middle School

Vaccine Information:

• COVID 19-vaccines are effective. They can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.
• COVID-19 vaccines also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.
• Getting vaccinated yourself may also protect people around you, particularly people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

Delta Variant:

• The Delta variant causes more infections and spreads faster than earlier forms of the virus that causes COVID-19. It might cause more severe illness than previous strains in unvaccinated people.
• Vaccines continue to reduce a person’s risk of contracting the virus that cause COVID-19, including this variant.
• Vaccines continue to be highly effective at preventing hospitalization and death, including against this variant.
• Fully vaccinated people with breakthrough infections from this variant appear to be infectious for a shorter period.
