Democrat State Representative Sharon Steckman shared an article from the Mason City Globe Gazette that criticized Republicans for preventing schools from enforcing mask mandates.

The column was titled “Iowa’s school mask ban endangers our children.” For the record, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health, of Iowa’s COVID deaths, three have been people 0-17 years old.

On Aug. 17, Steckman shared an article asking where the community leaders are who will protect our kids. A child standing by a “masks required to enter” sign is featured.

Steckman noted Iowa is one of just eight states restricting districts from mandating masks.

In between those posts, however, Steckman shared another article from the Mason City Community School District’s board meeting on Monday night.

There was a picture printed in the Mason City Globe-Gazette from the board meeting. Look close.

Maybe even a little closer.

Who is that, you ask? Mason City School Board member Paul Steckman, Rep. Steckman’s husband.

And what’s missing?

A mask.
