Democrat Congressman Ted Lieu of California used his five minutes during a House Judiciary meeting on Thursday to continue questioning the character of Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch. Lieu, along with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent a letter to Sen. Chuck Schumer encouraging the Senate to determine whether Kavanaugh and Gorsuch lied under oath during their confirmation hearings when discussing Roe v. Wade.

On Thursday Lieu talked at length about a 10-year-old girl in Ohio who was raped and got pregnant as a result. Lieu said she couldn’t get an abortion in Ohio because none of the exceptions allowed for an abortion. Lieu never acknowledged the individual who raped the girl was an illegal immigrant, according to an ICE source.

Instead, Lieu claimed that “MAGA and far-right Republicans want government-mandated pregnancies for everyone, including 10-year-old rape victims.”

“That is extreme,” Lieu said.

Lieu said that multiple Supreme Court justices clearly lied in order to get confirmed.

“You cannot square what the majority said in Dobbs with the statements by Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh,” Lieu said.

Lieu noted that the Constitution doesn’t reference birth control pills, condoms, homosexual marriage or interracial marriage. He said this means that under the Supreme Court’s opinion in Dobbs that politicians would be able to regulate or restrict all of those things.

“You know what the Constitution does make reference to, by the way? A well-regulated militia,” Lieu said. “I hope the Supreme Court actually looks at that phrase and actually adheres to it. But that’s another matter.”

Lieu said Gorsuch and Kavanaugh lied during their confirmation hearings. He said they could have simply been silent on Roe during their hearings.

“Justice Kavanaugh went above and beyond to intentionally mislead the American people,” Lieu said. “He even went and talked about Casey. He said, you know, ‘Casey is precedent on top of precedent.’ He was trying to give assurances to the U.S. Senate and the American public that he was not going to overturn Roe v. Wade. Same with Justice Gorsuch. They didn’t have to do that, right. They could have done what other justices did. They could’ve given themselves wiggle room, be silent, say I’m not going to answer the question. But they didn’t. They lied.”
