Liberal Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks attempted to assure attendees of her tailgate fundraiser Friday night that, despite her liberal voting record in Congress, she is not a Democrat.

“If I was a Democrat I would have run as a Democrat 10 years ago and I would’ve been in Congress for a decade,” she said. “I mean, after all we are here in the People’s Republic of Iowa City, Johnson County. I’m not a Democrat. I am a proud Republican.”

Miller-Meeks said anybody who thinks she will give up has another thing coming. She launched into remarks about a spending bill that had some cuts to crop insurance, disease surveillance and foreign disease surveillance.

Not exactly conservative red meat.

She then shouted:

“If you think you can intimidate me, go, OK, can I borrow, uh, Bobby (Kaufmann), where are you Bobby,” she asked. “Suck it up buttercup.”

There was no applause.

Miller-Meeks then claimed she will continue to vote for conservative Republican policies and procedures. Miller-Meeks, for the record, has a Liberty Score from Conservative Review of 63 percent.

*There was a vote to end federal control of local schools, but Miller-Meeks voted against it on March 24, 2023.
*There was a vote to force states to redefine marriage and put religious liberty in jeopardy, and Miller-Meeks voted for it on Dec. 8, 2022.
*There was a vote to codify same-sex marriage and ban states from supporting traditional marriage, and Miller-Meeks voted for it on July 19, 2022.
*There was a vote to extend chain migration to adult dependents of employment visa holders, and Miller-Meeks voted for it on July 14, 2022.
*There was a spending bill of $817 billion that failed to defund military vaccine mandates, and Miller-Meeks voted for it on July 14, 2022.
*There was a bill to fund the war in Ukraine through the end of Biden’s first term, and Miller-Meeks voted for it on May 10, 2022.

She also supported requiring girls to register for the draft and supported a $1.5 trillion omnibus bill that funded Biden’s vaccine mandates. And when the vote to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act and fund Biden’s radical agenda came up, Miller-Meeks voted for that too.

After refusing to support Jim Jordan in his second and third votes for Speaker last week, Miller-Meeks released a statement claiming to have received “credible death threats.” She held the public fundraiser anyway on Friday.

It is worth pointing out that Miller-Meeks doesn’t just have a liberal voting record, she was also a vocal critic and opponent of President Donald J. Trump.

In 2016, Miller-Meeks said that Trump was “as fit” as Hillary Clinton to be President.

“Both liars and corrupt,” she said. “He did it legally, she broke laws, used government position and hurt national security.”

She voted to certify the 2020 election. She voted for the Jan. 6 Commission, which led Trump to reference her as one of 35 “wayward Republicans.”

We also know that her PAC donated to almost every Republican who voted to impeach Trump.

Miller-Meeks is also vice-chair of the so-called “Conservative Climate Caucus.” The group believes the climate is changing and “decades of a global industrial era” has contributed to climate change.

  1. Definitely time to find an America, American first candidate to replace her. Just remember, it took her 4 attempts to make it into congress! 4! Then when she did squeak out a win it was Kevin McCarthy that stood up to Nancy Pelosi to keep her when Nancy wanted to install Rita Hart! Se has a D score from the liberty scorecard. She is rabidly Anti-America and Anti-Trump. Iowa can do better than this. In fact all 4 of our congressional delegates are the same as Mill-Meeks! They all need to have strong primary challengers if we are going to fix our once Great Nation!
