According to a recent Rasmussen Reports national phone and online survey, most likely voters believe the gunman acted alone on July 13 when he tried to kill President Donald J. Trump.

Fifty-three percent of likely U.S. voters said they believe he acted alone while 34 percent said they think he had help. Twelve percent said they are not sure.

Despite those figures, 41 percent of likely voters believe it is likely some federal government officials were part of a conspiracy to assassinate Trump. Forty-eight percent said it is not likely.

Thirty-two percent said they have a lot of trust in the FBI’s ability to investigate the shooting. Twenty-one percent said they have some trust, while 20 percent said they have not much trust and 24 percent said they have no trust at all.
