President Donald J. Trump issued an executive order on Friday that designates Christmas Eve as a federal holiday. It requires all executive departments and agencies of the federal government to be closed on Dec. 24.

When Christmas typically falls on a Friday, presidents have designated Christmas Eve as a half day.

However, President Trump has embraced the importance of Christmas throughout his administration.
