President Donald J. Trump is encouraging supporters to show up in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6 when Congress counts the Electoral College votes.
Republicans who do not trust the results of the 2020 Presidential Election have been encouraging GOP members in the House and Senate to challenge the election results.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already urged Republicans to not challenge the results.
If both a representative and a senator agree to challenge a state’s election results, the Senate and House will adjourn to separate chambers to debate the issue before holding a vote on whether to reject a slate of electors.
Trump tweeted on Saturday that Biden did not win the election.
“He lost all six swing states, by a lot,” Trump said. “They then dumped hundreds of thousands of votes in each one, and got caught. Now Republican politicians have to fight so that their great victory is not stolen. Don’t be weak fools!”
