Congressman Steve King will be hosting a press conference on Friday, Aug. 23 in Des Moines featuring Rebecca Kiessling and pro-life leadership from Iowa. King was criticized for how he defended his belief in life from conception for babies conceived in rape and incest.

Kiessling is president of Save the 1 and is a product of a pregnancy resulting from rape herself. She’s expected to discuss the support of King’s no exceptions position when it comes to protecting unborn babies.

Others who will attend include Caitlyn Dixson (executive director for Iowa Right to Life), Maggie DeWitte (executive director for Iowans for Life), Tim Overlin (executive director of Personhood Iowa) and Tamara Scott (host of Truth for Our Time). Other notables are still being confirmed.

King spoke about being pro-life without exceptions for those conceived in rape or incest last week.

“What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest,” he said. “Would there be any population in the world left if we did that considering all the wars and all the rape and pillage that’s taken place?”
