Today, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) touted another landmark investment in Iowa being made with funding in the American Rescue Plan, the landmark relief legislation that she supported in March 2021.

Today, Governor Reynolds announced that $100 million of funding provided to the State of Iowa through the American Rescue Plan will be used to support water infrastructure projects across Iowa.

“I’m proud of my vote that has helped put Iowa on solid fiscal footing and fund key projects that will benefit Iowa’s communities. From these water infrastructure upgrades to other investments in broadband, manufacturing, housing, and child care, the American Rescue Plan is making a difference in the lives of Iowans,” said Rep. Axne. “Not only that: the American Rescue Plan has also brought the U.S. economy back to the highest workforce participation rate and lowest unemployment rate since March 2020, and made us the only major Western economy with a larger economy than pre-pandemic.”

The funds from the American Rescue Plan will fund grants to support projects aimed at reducing excess nutrients, improving drought resiliency, reducing flood risks, improving public health, promoting reuse of water and wastewater and providing significant economic benefits to Iowa’s communities.

The American Rescue Plan has also funded investments by the State of Iowa in rural broadband, manufacturing, housing, and child care.
