Congresswomen Ashley Hinson (IA-01) introduced the Producing Responsible Energy and Conservation Incentives and Solutions for the Environment (PRECISE ACT). This legislation would make it easier for Iowans to access precision agriculture practices and technology by making these tools and devices eligible for existing USDA federal programs under the Farm Bill.
Hinson held a virtual roundtable with Iowa farmers, ranchers, producers, and other agriculture industry experts to share details of the PRECISE Act, hear feedback, and receive additional input on ways to expand access to precision agriculture technology.
“I have heard from Iowans in the agriculture industry about how precision agriculture technology is key to increasing crop yields, while also lowering farmers’ overall input costs and environmental impacts. However, it is also extremely expensive to start using this tech, making it out of reach for many farmers. The PRECISE Act will expand access to precision agriculture technology, including tools to connect rural broadband for producers using these practices,” said Congresswoman Ashley Hinson. “Farmers and producers are the best stewards of their own land—we should harness the knowledge and experience within the agriculture community for a healthy environment and healthy economy.”
