Name: Rep. Megan Jones, Republican (incumbent)

Office/District: State Representative District 2

Hometown: Sioux Rapids

Profession: Non-practicing attorney/farm wife

Why running for office: “I have always been in this because I want to make Iowa a better place, not just for my kids, but for all Iowans. We are so fortunate to live in this state — let’s preserve it and make it stronger. We have made great strides during my time in the legislature, including:

*Protected life, passing the 20-week abortion ban and the Heartbeat bill;

*Education funding has not been cut since a Democrat administration and is at an all-time high;

*Unemployment has been at all-time lows, wages are rising and we’re helping workers access career training programs;

*Second Amendment rights have been protected and expanded;

*We gave the taxpayer a seat at the collective bargaining table;

*We outsmarted Obamacare to give Iowans more choice in healthcare.

But there is still work to be done. As Chair of the Administrative Rules Review Committee, I am responsible for being the legislative check on burdensome and unreasonable government regulations. I take this watchdog role very seriously. With the outbreak of COVID-19, we must continue to budget conservatively, take care of Iowans’ priorities and have a full emergency fund for situations like this. From a policy perspective, I will continue to fend off unnecessary laws that restrict business, promote policy that saves money and reduces the size and role of government.”
