Tom Ashworth is a senior analyst for the Iowa Senate Republican caucus. According to his Facebook profile, Ashworth has worked for the caucus since 2001.

On Tuesday, Ashworth said he’s planning on having Thanksgiving alone to help prevent the spread of the virus.

“The news is full of the millions traveling anyway,” he wrote. “Presumably they don’t give a shit about anyone else, or even worse they are members of the moron minority that still don’t believe this is real.

“Meanwhile, I think of my mom as a small child in WWII England being told that the blinds had to stay closed and the lights off so the Germans can’t see us when they are dropping bombs tonight. But it’s too hard for people here today to take the most rudimentary steps to help their fellow citizens. Is it really that fucking hard to do simple things for a few more months to protect your friends and neighbors?”

Ashworth is a staffer on the Judiciary Committee as well as Administrative Rules.
