Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) sent a letter along with four Republican colleagues to our nation’s governors expressing profound concern at reports of a 14-year-old girl from Glasgow, Montana, being transferred by Montana’s Child and Family Services to Wyoming against her parents’ wishes for “gender-affirming care.”
The group writes:
“We are horrified that Montana CPS and hospitals, and potentially other states, would facilitate, let alone allow, this type of child abuse. Many children struggle during puberty and are certainly not helped by pressure from social media and predatory pharmaceutical companies. As legislators and governors, we must do everything we can to stop these evil practices: children deserve a chance to grow up and parents have a right to raise their children.”
According to the American College of Pediatricians and other researchers, as many as 80-95% of children who have gender dysphoria accept their biological sex by late puberty. States that continue to take the side of adolescents, instead of the parents that they are reliant upon, are encouraging the mutilation of children and teens before their brains are fully developed enough to comprehend the life altering actions they are taking.
“The actions taken by Montana’s Child and Family Services in this case are troubling at best,” said Rep. Rosendale. “As a father of 3 and a grandfather of 2 I could not imagine if the state kidnapped any of them and then proceed to encourage them to harm themselves, it’s unthinkable. The Kolstad family, and families who are victims of operations like these across the country, deserve better than the failure in governance that continues to happen in these horrifying scenarios.”
“This bill is a win for parents and kids. We must take strong action to stop extremists in the government from meddling with our children just because parents don’t toe the line with their leftist ideas,” said Rep. Nancy Mace.
“As the radical, woke left continues to tell our children and grandkids that they can be any gender they want, I stand by the science and Bible that there are only two genders—male and female,” said Congressman Jeff Duncan. “I’m appalled that the government is ripping kids out of their parent’s arms to allow a child to undergo genital mutilation. I call on every Member of Congress, Governor, elected official to do all in your power to protect parental rights and stop all efforts to gender transition any minor.”
