Iowans are invited to attend a “Pray for America Rally” this Sunday at the Iowa Capitol in Des Moines. The event is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

The event will be hosted by the ELIM Arrival, a ministry in the Iowa City area, and the Well of Iowa.

For seven years there have been statewide gatherings where churches from across the region come together to pray, intercede for and repent on behalf of America.

About 1,500 people showed up at a July gathering.

“We saw God moving in really wonderful ways,” an organizer told The Iowa Standard. “We believe our nation is such a blessed nation, such a wonderful nation that God has given to us, but we know that the church needs to rise and stand up in this moment and to take back the influence and impact that God has given to us. This all kind of culminates into this weekend.”

The church is calling Christians from all over Iowa to meet at the rally on Sunday to pray for America. It isn’t so much a political gathering as it is a prayerful gathering.

“This will be an evening filled with intercession, worship and the Word of God,” they said. “From the Iowa Capitol, we will be proclaiming the HOPE and PEACE of Jesus Christ in this chaotic and restless time and shining the light of God into the darkness!”
