Congressman Keith Self is leading the fight to end the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) practice of housing illegal aliens at airport facilities.
Congressman Self sent a letter, along with 36 other House Republicans, to FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker demanding answers regarding this dangerous practice. The letter underscores the importance of the FAA remaining focused on its mission “to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world” – not providing housing for illegal immigrants. This letter puts Mr. Whitaker on notice that the practices that he is implementing serve as a distraction from the FAA’s mission and places the safety of those who travel by air in jeopardy.
“America’s worst terror attack started at an airport – so it is unconscionable that the FAA is allowing unvetted illegal immigrants, and potential terrorists, to be housed in U.S. airports,” said Congressman Keith Self. “Democrats’ lawless open border policies have turned American cities, schools, and now airports into processing centers for illegal immigrants. These troubling practices cannot continue.”
In addition, Congressman Self has introduced the Airport Immigration Enforcement Act. This bill prohibits the FAA Administrator from authorizing the housing of illegal immigrants within an airport and prohibits the use of federal funds from being used to house illegal immigrants on airport property.
