State Sen. Jake Chapman, the President of the Iowa Senate, said on Facebook he believes a criminal investigation should be opened after hearing the public comments made by a Waukee parent regrading three sexually explicit books in the Northwest High School Library.

You can watch her comments below:

“Iowa Code 728 prohibits the dissemination of obscene material,” Chapman wrote on Facebook. “Based on what I just heard, in my opinion, a criminal investigation should be opened. Schools and its employees are not above the law. I look forward to strengthening our laws on this matter and enhancing both the penalties and enforcement of this code chapter.”
