During his Capitol Hill Report last week, Sen. Chuck Grassley reiterated his support for the Biden infrastructure bill that previously passed the Senate and is in a holding pattern in the U.S. House.

“I’ll tell you what my desire is, my desire is that they would do what the moderate Democrats in the House want to do and move ahead with the bipartisan infrastructure bill that I voted for and get it to the President,” Grassley said. “I think the President needs a win. And, if they did that, it’d be my hope that the rest of this stuff would all be dropped.”

Grassley was one of 19 Republican Senators who voted for the infrastructure bill in August.

President Donald J. Trump called that bill “destructive” and said the 19 Republicans who voted for it created a “big setback for Republicans.” Trump had previously threatened to back Republican primary challengers to any GOP incumbent who voted to advance the infrastructure bill.

“This will be a victory for the Biden Administration and Democrats, and will be heavily used in the 2022 election,” Trump said. “It is a loser for the USA, a terrible deal and makes the Republicans look weak, foolish and dumb.”
