Senate Study Bill 1170 breezed through the Senate Judiciary committee on Wednesday. The bill makes the nonconsenual termination of a pregnancy a class A felony.

“This bill relates to the penalties for nonconsensual termination of pregnancy,” said Republican Sen. Jake Chapman. “This is a good bill that recognizes that nonconsensual termination is murder and should be treated as such.”

The bill passed without any opposition.
