Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks told a group of Iowans in Des Moines on Saturday that she is unsure about the prospect of making Rep. Jim Jordan Speaker of the House.

A source told The Iowa Standard that Miller-Meeks cited his position on biofuels and willingness to primary his opponents as concerns. Miller-Meeks reportedly said primarying politicians in the same political party is something Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would do.

It’s unknown how Miller-Meeks applies that logic to Gov. Kim Reynolds’s involvement in a number of primary elections during the 2022 cycle.

The Iowa Standard reached out to Miller-Meeks on Saturday to see if she cared to elaborate on those thoughts, but she never responded.

Miller-Meeks is a likely prime target for a primary challenge, having been censured by some of the county central committees in her district due to some of her more liberal votes.
