The Christian church is weak because we do not hold each other to account. The Bible tells us to not sin. Not to do the best you can or do better than your neighbor or “I am not perfect, just forgiven”. It tells us not to sin. Is it possible that you believe you are a Christian but in fact are deceived? I John 2:4-6 says “Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.”
As a Republican delegate, I have spoken with many lawmakers and many running for office. They all say they follow Jesus. Following Jesus is an attitude of the heart. Every word we speak out of our hearts either denies or admits that Jesus is Lord.
If we do sin, we need to repent of that sin and walk back into the Light. The Bible has some interesting, seemingly contradictions about salvation. The Bible says “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” I Ephesians 2:8-9. Yet we are also told in Philippians 2:12 “…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” It is both. God saves us by His grace and then fills us with His Spirit as we obey Him and submit to His authority.
We have to stop being hypocrites, help each other out and lovingly eradicate sin within our ranks so that we can be holy and pleasing to God, ready for every good work. Work is not work when it is done with His joy!
We cannot allow sin in order to have a pretense of getting along. Christians will work in harmony when we stop accepting sin as normal.
I have been told that “I won’t find a perfect church.” Well, I may not find a perfectly holy church but I strive to find one that is striving to be holy with all their heart, mind and strength.
